nick3My name is Nick Carr, and I’m a professional movie location scout. In my ten years as a scout, I’ve been pretty much everywhere, from the highest rooftops to the deepest subway tunnels, from abandoned ruins to zillion-dollar luxury penthouse apartments.

What always amazes me about the city is how much there is to see if you take the time to look. Every street has a hidden gem or two, and yet they tend to go ignored by the thousands of passersby daily who simply don’t have the time to pay attention.

As it happens, my entire job consists of paying attention. I’ve started this blog to keep a record of what I see.

Since 2005, I’ve worked in New York City, where I maintained the website Scouting NY. Check it out here for over 450 articles/10,000 pictures of New York City’s most amazing sights and hidden treasures.

In August 2015, I moved to LA to continue my career while pursuing my dream of becoming a filmmaker.

Let’s go exploring.

  1. Scout – Feedburner says your RSS feed is invalid. Looking forward to the posts here now that ScoutingNY has ended.

  2. Hey Nick,

I wrote you about 2 years ago about doing an L.A. version of this (I’m sure I wasn’t the first). Congrats on finally doing this!! I loved the N.Y. one, but as I native Angeleno, it’s always interesting to hear about the perspective of this great city through the eyes of someone new.
